"As a News Anchor and Reporter, knowing a little about a lot is important. That means I need to be aware of all topics from news, pop culture, media, sports and entertainment. In PR, it's more about knowing a lot about a lot, especially when it comes to relating to people and using specific communication strategies for all types of clients. There's no one that represents that more than my great friend, Carolynn Smith. When my former station (WTSP) in Tampa wanted a group of moms to be part of a morning show segment called, The Mom Squad, we were looking for sharp, engaging, witty, smart, educated women with outstanding personalities. Carolynn was my first choice! In fact, we could've just used her by herself."

“Carolyn Eastman is, by far, the best media relations person I have worked with in my 25 years as a newspaper journalist. Professional and personable, sensitive and insightful, she knows what will make a good story, recognizes what it will take to guide both the reporter and the subjects through the complex maze of communication so that everyone feels comfortable from the moment the idea is pitched until the story is complete.
She understands the depth and potential of stories, as well as the importance of readers’ reactions and the response after the story comes out.
One story Carolyn pitched to me, “The Girl in the Window,” wound up winning the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for feature writing. When the story was picked up by national and international media, she guided those profiled in the story through the process of working with Oprah Winfrey’s producers and interviews with international media. Carolyn doesn’t just pitch ideas, she carefully shepherds stories through the entire process.
Carolyn is prompt, thorough, ethical and empathetic. She knows how to navigate hurdles to make sure that everything is accomplished on schedule and has a natural ability to win people’s trust.”
